Mom's Birthday Lunch - Creative Monday Linky

   I was determined to cook a special birthday lunch for my mom with some of her favourite dishes.  It included roast chicken with stuffing, rice and peas, macaroni and cheese, cabbage and carrot salad and baked Irish potato. Bird Figurine Series - # 5

    These roosters are among our favourites as they are so colourful.  You will notice that one features a clock. The clock no longer works but Janine and I decided that it had to remain in our collection.

Birthday Card For Mom - Creative Monday Blog Hop

    My mother celebrated another birthday on September 1.  We tried to lift her spirit as it wasn't easy without 2 of her children, Janine and Sutcliffe. I like to make cards so I got out some cartridge paper, pictures of birds and leaves and created this card.

Bird Figurine Series - # 4

     This figurine became a part of our collection in the early years. I still remember that Easter trip that Janine and I took to the popular tourist resort of Ocho Rios. While shopping we could not resist this hen in  a basket!

Easy Seasoned Rice - Creative Monday Linky

Recipe
2lbs of rice
5 cups of water
1 pk of Grace Cock Soup Mix ( Spicy)
Hot Pepper Sauce
Tomato Ketchup

1.Put water in pot and add a pack of cock soup mix.
2.Add some drops of hot pepper sauce and 4 tablespoons of Tomato Ketchup
3.Add rice and stir with a fork
4. Allow to cook for about 1 hour

Bird Figurine Series - # 3

These are toucans noted for their huge beaks!

     Janine and I got these toucan figurines from our mother.  Toucans can be found in tropical forests extending from Central America to the Amazon valley. They got their name from the word 'tucano' in the language of the Tupi Indians of Brazil.  Their huge bills are not heavy as they are filled with a honeycomb-like cellular bony tissue.  However they are strong enough to crush the fruits that they mainly feed on.

Bird Collection Rearranged - Creative Monday Blog Hop

     Over the years Janine and I always took time out to rearrange our bird figurine collection at least once a year. In recent times I have had to do this alone. Above is the empty display unit. I managed to get the glass and wood as shine as possible.

        Here the figurines are all back and I did not break any of them! Two weeks ago I started a Bird Figurine Series which is the last post every week.
