  Time certainly flies!  I can hardly believe that I started this series a year ago and today I end the series with some colourful bird figurines. I thank all the persons who have viewed my collection and shared their comments.  I enjoyed sharing this collection which brought so much joy to my twin and me.

Bird Figurine Series - # 49

  What time is dinner time for you?!  Well, it is usually around 6 p.m. at our home.  Janine and I have never used this cute dinner bell featuring birds to signal dinner time. Instead it takes pride of place in our  living-room.  Nevertheless at times I do ring it and enjoy the sound. Just this week I enjoyed ringing it a few times while the Scarlet Macaw wind chime that I featured last week was making sweet sounds!:)

   We have been experiencing some windy days and I say " Blow wind blow and cool me down as long as it is not a storm or hurricane!"  Another thrill is to hear this Scarlet Macaw chime.  I have had it for many years. Janine and I always moved it to different places at our home just to hear the chimes!

Bird Figurine Series - # 47

    This lovely vase in the shape of a heart featuring flowers and a bird on each side was always   special for Janine and me.  The heart is the symbol of love and as I reflect I remember this quote by Thomas Bailey "What is lovely never dies, But passes into other loveliness."

  This was one of the early birds that joined our collection of bird figurines. Mom, Janine and I were shopping in the popular tourist resort of Ocho Rios and could not pass this colourful  figurine which was made in Peru.

         I will always remember how fascinated Janine and I were when we received this unusual candy dish featuring 6 ducks.  Since that day it has taken pride of place in our bookshelf.   We also decided to keep it candy free!:)

         Janine and I have always been fascinated  by the pink feathers of flamingos. We have never seen them in real life but luckily have had these 2 flamingo figurines for many years.

  Over the years Janine and I have gotten several items that carried a bird figure. In other words they were not just figurines.  Well, guess what was under the base of this bird?!  It is not there anymore and of course would not be used by us as we could not have this cute chicken out of our collection. Now for the answer as to what this really was - a bird pencil sharpener!

         Janine and I grew up on a farm but in our time there were no ducks around. It was interesting to learn from my mom that before we were born they had ducks on the farm.  I have not seen many  over the years but I am happy that this cute figurine of a mother duck with her ducklings is a part of our collection.

Bird Figurine Series - # 39

      Janine and I were so thrilled when we got these figurines as gifts from our mother.  We just loved the colours. I have been doing some research in order to find out what species these birds are. Based on pictures and information in one of my bird books I am wondering if they are figurines of  Hoopoes.

Bird Figurine Series - # 38

  In that Janine and I have never travelled abroad we often jokingly called ourselves 'kiwi birds.' The kiwi is the national bird of New Zealand and cannot fly. Many years ago Janine got this wooden kiwi from one of her pen-pals. If I recall correctly it was carved by her pen-pal's father.

Question Time

     Every weekend I will have a blog post where I ask and answer questions.  It is a good way for readers to get to know more about me and also help me to get feedback on a number of questions. Do you collect anything?  If not, what would you collect given the opportunity?  During our high school days my twin sister and I collected postcards and stamps.  Over 20 years ago we started collecting bird figurines which grew into a huge collection.  I do not see myself starting another collection but if I did it would be clocks. I love clocks!
    As usual I am participating in Friendship Friday hosted by Create With Joy where this week the theme is Catharsis. Nature has a way of lifting my spirit so today I share my poem titled Finding Peace Amidst Nature which was one of the early posts when I started this Blog.
