I Surprised Myself!

If someone told me that I had to make a big change in my diet before I had to do it probably I would exclaim "Say what?!  I can't eat some of my favourite foods right now!"  Well, to my surprise in recent weeks I have adjusted with ultimate ease. I surprised even myself! Of course it was very important for my health but I have not been moaning and groaning about it.  These days I eat a lot more fish and one of my favourite dishes is Escoveitched Fish .  Ah, no wonder, I can still eat a favourite dish!:)

Have you ever had to make a drastic change in your diet?  If so, how did you cope?

As usual I am linking with Friendship Friday hosted by Create With Joy and the other parties below:

You did a beauty of a job with the display too. I'm glad you're eating right and still enjoying it too. :)

Well I wouldn't say a drastic change in my diet, but as we get older we can't eat the things we did when we were younger, so I've got a diet that is far leaner and more healthy. It's that hard to do as you've found out.

Have a terrific day Judy. ☺

You can say that again Sandee! Enjoy the rest of your Thursday.

Yes Judy, I am going through it right now. It's been almost 1/2 month. I think the though of it is harder than the actual eating. Don't you think so too?

Unknown said...

I have not made the change that long Self Sagacity but I am definitely sticking with it. You are right, the thought about it is harder than the actual eating!

A few months ago Judy, I was diagnosed to be Lactose intolerant and that has affected my eating any dairy product made of cow milk and that's a lot. I think I'm getting well on. Who told me that I'd be enjoying soya milk more than anything?

Unknown said...

I am glad that you are adjusting to soya milk now Nekky! I am doing quite well without red meat at this time. It is great when we can make the bold decisions to improve our health.

Hi Judy,
The fish looks delicious! I have made a lot of diet changes. Sometimes, it is not easy, especially when I'm around others who are eating something that I still crave from time to time. Seasoning foods with herbs and spices has helped me to enjoy foods that I wouldn't have thought about eating several years ago. Now, I find myself eating more and more for nutrition as opposed to enjoyment only. Take baby steps to improve your diet. For me, this has been the key to making dietary changes a way of life as opposed to a temporary fix!

May God bless you and keep you as you make the changes that are needed for optimal health.

Having to readjust your diet is super hard. I had to do that 5 years ago and I am still griping about it lol. I am happy to hear that you are adjusting just fine though! Your plate looks oh so good!

I am still wondering how I have adjusted so well Theresa! My birthday is coming up and I am thinking of not having a cake! Mercy! Maybe I will have a slice!LOL

Wow, that looks mighty tasty there girlfriend! I had to make a drastic change when I found out I was containing water in my legs big time. NO SALT! That just doesn't mean from the salt shaker. NO MORE CANNED VEGGIES for one. BIG TIME SODIUM there. So it's fresh or frozen or nothing. I have found that Morton makes 1/2 sodium, and I also use Mrs. Dash which is better than nothing. I use a lot of spices too so there ya go! Have a great weekend & I'm all up to par now & caught up since my surgery & sickness probs. So you'll see me a lot more often now. hugs, me

YUM! That recipe looks GREAT! I was drawn to your blog from the Jenny's Hop, because of the picture! :)

I have certainly had to drastically change my diet years ago. Not because of weight issues, but because I had my large intestine removed! No wheat, dairy, gluten, sugar, soy, nuts, fruit for me!!!! :o

I haven't had to make any drastic changes, but trying to cut out dairy. Seems I'm not agreeable to those things.

I think I'd cope very well, actually.

Good for you!

I miss the escoveitch fish so much!

My husband was diagnosed with Celiac disease a few months ago, and we made the decision to work toward phasing out gluten for everyone, since one of my daughters already shows signs of gluten intolerance. I thought it would be a really tough shift for me, but it really hasn't been. In fact, we all eating much healthier as a result and enjoying experimenting with new recipes!

I am visiting from the Make My Saturday Sweet link-up! So nice to 'meet' you, Judy!

Yes, there was a time that I had to cut out fried food, red meat and dairy - that was hard! I did it, though, because you do when you're health needs you to.

I said goodbye to chocolate for a while and have to say that it made me feel a lot more energetic - it was not easy though. I love that stuff ;)

OOh I would happily change my diet if I could eat that dish. I lost 3 dress sizes on Slimming World. Very easy as you can eat lots. Over from Love My Post, thanks for linking up, hope you get chance to look around too.
