Every weekend I will have a blog post where I ask and answer questions. It is a good way for readers to get to know more about me and also help me to get feedback on a number of questions. Do you have a hobby that you started as a child? In our early high school years Janine and I started corresponding with pen-pals. Today I still have several pen-pals but I mainly exchange emails now. I also keep in touch with some of Janine's former pals.
As usual I am participating in Friendship Friday hosted by Create With Joy where this week the theme is Gardens. Do you have a black or green thumb when it comes to growing things? Do you currently have-or plan to start- a garden? Are there any public gardens in your area that you would like to visit? I would say that I have a green thumb. We have 3 gardens at our home. There are no public gardens in my area. I love flowers and would like to visit some public gardens in my country like Castleton Gardens and Hope Gardens. I visited Hope Gardens many years ago.

I have never really had a hobby-unless you consider reading a hobby! I have been an avid reader for as long as I can remember.
I regard reading as a hobby MikiHope and a wonderful one too! Enjoy the rest of your day.

Yeh! Thanks a lot Rea T! I am so happy to get this good news. I will be sure to link up again!
Thanks Cayla and Ashley! I will be sure to follow back.
I do not do yard work of any kind. I hate yard work, or garden work, of getting my hands and fingernails dirty. Hubby loves it, and I hate it. I'll clean the bathrooms instead.
I would love to visit the gardens on the islands of Hawaii. I've been to a few and would love to see more. Tropical and beautiful.
Have a terrific day. ☺
Thanks for your feedback Sandee. It is always great to read your comments. Enjoy the rest of your day.

That's neat that you still keep in touch. My husband had a penpal from Finland when he was in school and he saved all of the letters.
I don't think I have any hobby's from school still around, unless picture taking counts. :)
Thanks for your feedback Rosey! Oh yes, picture taking counts!:)
Answer to question
1) Hobbies growing up?
Making model airplanes - that ended in high school.
Photography - I love photography and actually get paid for it now!!
2) Green thumb? Yes, I love gardening but with 5 kids, I don't have a lot of time to do it.
My favorite plants in my yard are bearded irises that were in my grandfather's yard. He died in the mid 70's so I love having his irises. They are old fashioned and smell like root bear. I have a flood of memories every time I smell them. :)
The other specimen in my yard I love is known as: Corkscrew Hazel, Contorted Filbert, Harry Lauder's Walking Stick,Corylus avellana 'Contorta'
I've only seen 3 in my entire city. It is a spectacular winter specimen.
Great questions Judy.
I have a question for you. Which twin are you in your three pictures? I can't figure out which is you and which is your sister! :)
Have a great weekend!
Thanks a lot for your very interesting answers Mary. Janine was always the one with the big smile in pictures so I am the one barely smiling. Have a good weekend.
Happy Friday.
Thanks for link up and follow.
follow you back :-)
Have a great weekend.

Thanks Nan! Happy Friday to you too.
I've had a garden for years. I got my love from my Father.
This year will be extra special because the kids can really help with weeding (and not pulling out the plants) as well as picking. I'm so proud of providing food for my family.
Looking forward to planting mine but not for a month yet (P.S. We're currently snowed in today, horrible storm...).
Thank you so much for linking up to my Weekly BlogLovin Hop, http://www.journeysofthezoo.com/2013/04/bloglovin-linky-thursday-april11.html. As you know, I'm a follower of yours!

I think that is so neat that you kept in touch with your penpals! I had 4 of them in high school, but have since lost touch with them. Some of my fondest memories was pulling out one of their letters from the mailbox, so excited to hear what was going on half a world away!
Thank you so much for sharing your comments Sarah! It is great that your children will experience gardening this year. I hope the storm will be over real soon. Have a good weekend.
Over the years my twin and I really enjoyed corresponding with pen-pals Theresa. We had many from several countries. I am glad that I am still in touch with some of them.
I'm an ardent reader. That's one thing I've been doing from childhood till now. Hope you have a pleasant weekend Judy.
Reading is indeed a wonderful hobby Nekky! I also wish you a pleasant weekend.
Hey there! I wanted to stop by and remind you to link up at Home | Styled again this week! Hope you have a blessed weekend!
Thanks for the reminder Kinsley!
Here from the blog hop- so nice you still have pen pals. I don't know what i would do without technology to help me keep in touch with people!
Thank for linking up this weekend! Commenting/following from http://fluffimama.blogspot.com/
I love that you keep in touch with so many penpals, Judy! People are so lucky to know you!! I definitely do not have a green thumb...lol...I really would like to learn how to plant and keep a few flowers alive. Haha. I am not so great at it. I told my mom she has to teach me. I loved all the beautiful flowers in Jamaica! Have a wonderful weekend! Xoxox
Maria
You are welcome Sara! Have a wonderful weekend.
Technology is indeed great anothercleanslate. Have a wonderful weekend.
Thanks as always for your kind comments Maria. I would like to try a terrarium one of these days. My weekend is going fine. I wish you, Steve and Piper a wonderful weekend. Lots of Love, Friendship and Best wishes always.
Judy
I have a green thumb, however I can never get a sunflower to grow! Right now my gardening is limited to pots because I am in an apartment. Hopefully I can buy a house where I can have a garden. Thanks a bunch for sharing your post @ The Blog Hop too :)

Hi Judie! I did have a childhood hobby, which was sewing and I still do it from time to time. I love flowers and have a garden, I tried veggies in the garden but that did not go well. In NJ we have Longwood Gardens, though I have never been I have seen pics and they are beautiful. Nice chatting again!

Hi Margaret,
It is great that you have been sewing from you were a child. I wish I had continued sewing after doing sewing classes in high school. Have a good Sunday.
Judy
Hi Judy! I think you have taken the pen pals hobby of the past and turned it into all the comments you so kindly leave on everyone else's blogs. I enjoyed reading more about you today. Thanks for visiting and linking on Amanda's Books and More!
Childhood hobbies would be painting, I love to paint. And I'm so glad to hear that you've stayed in touch with your penpals for all of these years.
