Bird Figurine Series - # 16

December is here and that means Christmas is near! Until Christmas Day I will be featuring birds that I associate with the Christmas season. Here in Jamaica we do not get to see the beautiful red cardinal but over the years my twin and I have received many Christmas cards and pictures featuring this bird amidst the snow. A breathtaking sight!   I am happy to have these  3 cardinal figurines in my collection.

I saw one in our backyard a few times. I got the kids to come bird watch too! Took photos and everything. It's just amazing to see life real and not just on tv.

Judy, it is great to be on your site! Just reading your post makes me Thankful for Cardinals! I am from Ohio and this is our State bird. I get the pleasure of seeing them all the time. They are a beautiful bird! You have put a new perspective in my mind about having the ability to see them. The next time I see you I will think of my new friend from Jamacia, and say a prayer. Many blessing to you!

That's our state bird. They are so beautiful, aren't they? I just love when I see one perched on my deck railing or flying by my window.

Cardinals are one of my favorite birds. I think because my Grampa used to love them, and now that he's gone they remind me of him :)

Thanks for sharing with my NO RULES Weekend Blog Party!

What a great idea ~ to feature Xmas birds ~ we do have cardinals and did you know the solid red is the male cardinal ~ The female is more camouflaged as it is she who goes out scout the area first before the male comes in ~ just a little tidbit of trivia ~ (A Creative Harbor) ~ aka ~ 'artmusedog' ^_^

Unknown said...

Thanks a lot Carol! Yes, I found out that the male is the red one. Handsome indeed! LOL Have a good weekend.
