THOSE JIGSAW DAYS!

By Judy Haughton-James

For many years I enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles.  It would take a lot of my attention whenever I was working on one as every free chance I got I would run to go and see if I could place some more pieces.  Janine was never that eager to do them but from time to time she would pass by and try and find a few pieces.  I do not think she had the patience and determination that I had to keep going until it was finished.

I have done puzzles in a variety of sizes but never one with more than 1,000 pieces. I really admire persons who have been able to do even bigger ones.

Janine and I loved beautiful pictures so the minute a jigsaw puzzle was finished we would be armed with all that is needed to paste it together so that we could have it framed.  Above are two of our favourites over the years - Mount Fuji in Japan with a snow covered peak and a breathtaking scene with a river. These pictures grace the walls of our living-room.

Oh, how I would love to be seated where trees boast such a beautiful autumn scene. I am someone who finds peace amidst nature.

Hi Judy!

I'm so sorry for the loss of your twin Janine. It sounds like the two of you had an extraordinary relationship. I can somewhat relate, I'm not a twin but lost my Mom at the age of 10 32 yrs ago. The sense of loss never goes away however the pain does somewhat subside. Memories are a beautiful thing!

Stopping by from Wild Wednesday. I hope you have a wonderful week!

Hi Jen,
Thank you so much. I am sorry that you lost your mom at such an early age. Janine and I lost our father when we were only 13 years old. It is good when we have wonderful memories of times with our departed loved ones. Janine and I had good times together. Take care and my best wishes to you.

My son Mr.Freddy loves to play the puzzles.
Actually, I have posted a video of him on my blog, putting the floor puzzle together. I was so flabbergasted when I saw him for the first time without looking at the picture. He had never played puzzle before. I still have so many pictures and videos of him doing the puzzle that I have to share them on my blog.

I also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles when I was a little girl. I found it exciting as little by little, I am able to put all the pieces together to form a beautiful picture! I also love the sense of accomplishment it gives me when I am able to finish one! :-)

I too love doing puzzles but never did I try to do the big ones. I may be like your twin Janine lol, I lack the patience to do or perhaps to finish one. My daughters too doesn't have the patience. Wish I could effectively teach them the value of patience and determination, just like what you have. Your framed jigzaw puzzles are indeed breath taking.

Hi Katya Kate,
A good day to you. Thanks for your comments. I can remember that while doing these puzzles I would be so determined that I could hardly pass where they were without placing some pieces in!:) I think I finished them quickly although I have heard of persons who did very big ones in a much shorter time!:) Take care.
