Do You Celebrate Halloween?

Halloween is not celebrated in a big way in my homeland, Jamaica, but there are parties at hotels, clubs and some homes.  I have learnt a lot about this celebration from blogs and have been fascinated by the decorations, costumes and recipes. I can just imagine how thrilled children are when they go trick or treating and get a variety of goodies.  I note that pumpkins are a big part of Halloween. I like to see the carved pumpkins with lights.  We have had huge pumpkins on our farm which provided us with some delicious pumpkin soup.

Do you celebrate Halloween?  How do you plan to celebrate this year?  When was your most memorable Halloween?

Here we do not celebrate it at all. Most people don't even know what Halloween is
But we do have a similar holiday ( in a few months)

Thanks for sharing this information Winnie! Enjoy the rest of your week.

We give out candy to the kids. It's great to see all of their costumes and they have so much fun. In my neighborhood we also have designated "safe houses" for children to go to if they get lost or scared. Each safe house has a balloon on the mailbox so the kids know where to go. We are a safe house this year...thankfully no lost kiddies yet.
Have a safe night everyone!

Halloween wasn't big in the neighborhood where I grew up, so I don't get too excited about it. I do however love all things pumpkin.

I'd forgotten how pretty pumpkin petals can be. It's been a long time since I saw one.

We go to a family party on Halloween and the kids go trick-o-treating. But we don't Celebrate. It's just another excuse to spend time with family for us.

I am glad you got a chance to be with your family Amanda. Have a great weekend.

Hubby and I don't celebrate Halloween. It's just not something that we're into. Not against it, but don't participate. I've no memorable Halloweens.

Have a terrific day Judy. :)

I'm in Britain (popping over from Clairejustine's!) we celebrate it more and more over here. Some people complain about it being American, but I quite like it - it's a bit of fun for the kids.

Lately we only celebrate with decorations on our home & giving the kids candy when they ring the bell & putting up with the dog barking each time. Well, somebody has to stay home to give the candy! hehehehe HAPPY WEEKEND!

Yes. I am actually getting more excited about Halloween each year. It is a special time and month, since Oct is my BD month - I tend to favor it more. :-)

Happy Belated Birthday Self Sagacity. I note that you were born in October. My birthday is in a few days - November 4.

We celebrate with children's activities. I never take part in the ghouly stuff, I'm a big chicken and don't like scary stuff.

Unknown said...

I am a bit of a chicken also Rosey so certain aspects would scare me!LOL Have a great weekend.

Hi Judy, we live in southern Ontario. I guess you can say we celebrate Halloween. We carve pumpkins, decorate the front of the house, the kids dress up and go trick-or-treating. It's a fun time being with family.

Thanks for sharing how you spend Halloween in Ontario Darlene. Have a good week.

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! I just love everything about it. We took our decorations down today, which made me a little sad, but we will be putting up Christmas soon, so not overly sad.

I am glad you and your family enjoyed Halloween Theresa. The days are moving so quickly that Christmas will soon be here.

I've never seen such a large pumpkin blossom. Isn't it lovely? We had a fun Halloween. My husband has always loved carving pumpkins and has passed that love onto our children, so Halloween is lots of fun. Thanks for sharing at Inspire Us Thursday on Organized 31.

I'm sorry for visiting so late. I just can't find my groove since returning from our stay-cation. Anywho, we don't really celebrate Halloween anymore now that the kids are grown. We use to carve a jack-o-lantern and take the kids trick or treating. One rule we always followed with the children was to never do scary costumes. There is enough evil in the world without having our kids look like monsters. lol This year, I just sat a pumpkin outside near my mums and DH & I had all the candy that we bought because we just don't get trick or treaters at our house. Thanks for stopping by!

Hey, Judy, We don't really "celebrate". My first son I never let him go trick or treating. But the other 3 - I let them go trick or treating. It's fun to see the kids come to the door all dressed up. Take care, Linda
