Question Time

Every weekend I will have  a blog post where I ask and answer questions. It is  a good way for readers to get to know more about me and also helps me to get feedback on a number of questions.  Are you a patriotic person who knows a lot about your country's history and geography? I  am patriotic and have some Jamaican souvenirs.   Jamaica celebrated its 51st anniversary of Independence last Tuesday, August 6.  I live in St. Mary, a parish situated in the North Eastern section of the  island.  Our national symbols are as follows :- national fruit - ackee, national flower - lignum vitae, national bird -The Jamaican Streamer Tail Hummingbird and national tree - Blue Mahoe.

As usual I am participating in Friendship Friday hosted by Create With Joy where the theme this week is Birthdays. What's your favourite way to celebrate your birthday?  Birthdays are rather quiet for me since my twin sister's death. We used to go places, have a special lunch and of course at home there would be cake and ice-cream.  Has anyone every planned a surprise party for you?  I have never had a surprise birthday party. We would go somewhere and not have parties.  What is your favourite cake and ice-cream combination? Any cake with icing and Grapenut ice-cream. Share your favourite birthday memory?  My favourite birthday memory was when my twin and I celebrated our 21st birthday in the beautiful parish of Portland,Jamaica. We had a nice meal at the Trident Hotel and it was great to see the birds roaming around. Here are pictures of that special birthday.

I'm very patriotic, but I will admit I don't know enough about U.S. history.

I've never had a surprise birthday party either, but I'm not big on birthdays. I love surprising others but don't want a surprise party for me.

I'm not that much into cake, but I love ice cream and most any kind works for me.

Have a terrific day. ☺

Thanks a lot for your feedback Sandee! Enjoy the rest of your day.

You are lucky to have a sister. I am an only daughter. I have two brothers who are both adorable and I love them to pieces. I have lots of happy memories growing up with them and I think I was happy just having them as a sibling. But it would surely be nice to have a sister to share something that I can't share with my brothers like the "hand-me-downs". LOL

Geography was never my strong point-I love the USA but have trouble even remembering my State-The Big Apple!! "What a drag it is getting old"-not that I ever could remember those things!

I really treasure the years I had with my twin sister ruthinian. Memories never die. We certainly had a good time together. Take care.

Sometimes I forget things too MikiHope! Enjoy the rest of your week.

Hi Judy! Yes, I'm patriotic too :) As a teacher, so many of my students used to say "Australian history is boring" ... that's not true at all! I'm also very interested in other cultures as well, and a visit to Jamaica is on my bucket list, along with Madagascar and Bhutan :)

Thanks for your feedback Lizzy! I hope you get to visit Jamaica someday.

I would say I am patriotic. Living in the US, most of us are though. I have never had a surprise birthday, but do think one would be super fun! I hope you have a wonderful weekend Judy!

I am very patriotic and have visited my areas of the country learning about the history. I think people should know about their own country and other countries.

Your pictures with your twin are great. Sounds like you had a wonderful 21st.

Good Afternoon Judy, I found your blog whilst reading another blog.
I live in England and yes, I am very patriotic.
When it comes to cake, do you know there are quite a few I like, as I love to bake. I love cheesecake... any sort. I love chocolate cloud cake and carrot cake.... oh dear, not good for the waistline, but lovely to eat.
When it comes to ice cream, I sometimes just want a vanilla ice cream, then other times a chocolate ice cream.... depends on my mood. So as you have probably gathered, I have a very sweet tooth.
I have never had a surprise birthday party, because my family know it is something I would not enjoy. I prefer quiet birthdays with my family. I am quite a private person, which is hard to believe as I write a blog.
I am so sorry that you do not have your sister with you to share your birthdays, but I know you will have many wonderful memories which you keep in your heart.
Judy, I have enjoyed my visit and I have become a new follower. I would like to invite you to visit me at Ivy, Phyllis and Me! when you have a moment, as it will be lovely to see you there.
Best Wishes from a rainy England.
Daphne

I watched the video about being Scroogled. I know that Google watches all the searches we do and then feeds us ads according to those searches but I didn't know that Google was scanning our emails and doing the same thing. Google is a great search engine but getting too powerful. Your friend, linda

I didn't know that Google was also scanning emails Linda! If this is true it is shocking. A bit too much if you ask me. Thanks for this information. Take care and enjoy the rest of your week.
