Lychees Bring Back Memories

My twin sister Janine and I enjoyed lychees from this tree a few weeks before her death in 2008.  It was planted by my late brother Sutcliffe and is now bearing more than ever.

This is the second post I've read about lychees today. The first was a super dog named Sugar who lives in Hawaii.

I've never had these before. Someday.

Have a terrific day Judy. :)

Hi May,
You may indeed know this fruit. It is spelt 3 different ways as indicated on the labels I have added and is also known as Chinese guinep. Take care and have a good day.

I like eating lychees and assumed they grew like strawberries! Now I know better.

I think a tree is a lovely memorial.

Unknown said...

Thanks Anji! Enjoy your day!

I've never had them before what are they like?

Rachel Cotterill said...

What a lovely way to embrace your memories :)

We don't get many fresh lychees here - and I find the tinned ones really slimy.

Unknown said...

Thanks Rachel! I have never tried the tinned ones but I really love the ones straight from the tree. Do enjoy your weekend.

Unknown said...

Hi Melanie B,
The skin is brown but inside it is a sweet white juicy fruit. Take care.

I can't remember those fruits. Are they called something else too?

Glad they are growing abundantly.

Hi JamericanSpice,
Apart from the name lychee being spelt about 3 different ways they are also called Chinese guinep. They do very well here.
