I am sending Happy Thanksgiving greetings all the way from Jamaica to everyone in the U.S.A.  I have many relatives, friends and pen-pals living there. Over the years Janine and I learnt how  special this holiday is. I have also been seeing a wide range of wonderful posts about it on Blogs.  Turkey is a very important part of the meal for many and some Jamaicans have turkey at Christmas time. Well, I had a look in the book Caribbean Cookery by Winifred Grey and saw this recipe:

                                                    TURKEY  A LA KING
1/4 cup mushrooms
2 tablespoons fat
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon Worcester sauce
1 cup milk
1 small green pepper
1/4 cup stuffed olives
1 cup diced cooked turkey
3 slices hot toast
flour to thicken
Cook the mushrooms in fat for 5 minutes and add the flour, salt and Worcester sauce; blend and add the milk and cook until thickened, stirring constantly.  Chop the green pepper, slice the stuffed olives and add with the turkey to the hot sauce.  Heat up and serve on hot toast. ( Serves 3)

Over the next few weeks the theme is Christmas so share all your Creative Christmas posts with us...

This is prep day for us here and hubby is making the pies as I type. Next I'll make the dressing and then we'll ready the turkey and the spiral ham for the oven. Tomorrow morning the cooking begins and the family arrives. It's a wonderful day of togetherness and good food.

Have a terrific day Judy. Hugs. :)

Thank you very much Clairejustine. Turkey is mainly eaten at Christmas here. I can still remember the delicious turkey and stuffing we used to have at an uncle's home when Janine and I were young.

Happy Thanksgiving to you in case you celebrate it. I have not eaten Turkey/Chicken Ala King in ages, but I loved it as a kid. I'm getting my stomach ready for 2 feasts today. Hope you have a great day!

Hi AVCr8teur,
Happy Thanksgiving to you! It is not celebrated in a big way in Jamaica but there are celebrations in hotels and by Americans living here. I know it is a very special time in the U.S.A. as I have relatives etc. living there. I note that you know Turkey A La King! Take care and all the best to you.

Hi MarieHarmony,
Always good to hear from you. Some Jamaicans celebrate Thanksgiving today but it is not a holiday here. I was happy to talk with some relatives in the U.S.A. this morning. Take care and enjoy the rest of your day.

I hope you are having a great start to your weekend!

I think I'm the only one here not doing the turkey.

I feel like I'm missing out but just not sure how to push start.

I'll be baking with the kids in just minute though.

Hey Judy I drew a turkey for your hop, and even though it looks good in my blog the little picture in the linky is not good... sigh I could not even crop it right lol.
Well anyways have a great day!
