Question Time

      Every weekend I will have a blog post where I ask and answer questions.  It is a good way for readers to get  to know more about me and also helps me to get feedback on a number of questions. What have you been totally fascinated with recently? Looking at 3D Images! My friend Cecile introduced me to them and I thought I would never be able to see the images.  Well, I was determined to figure it out! After advice from my friend and some research I am finally enjoying looking at many of these images.  Cecile  made this one  for me. Can you see the image?

       As usual I am participating in Friendship Friday hosted by Create With Joy where the theme this week is Hobbies. What hobbies do you like participating in during your spare time? Reading, listening to the radio, watching music shows and a variety of sports on television, photography and corresponding with pen-pals from around the world. These days I mainly exchange emails with my pals.  What hobbies have you always wanted to learn?  I would like to resume the piano lessons that I stopped a very long time ago and probably learn how to play lawn tennis. Have you ever tried a hobby that wasn't your cup of tea? No, I can't think of any.

    Every weekend I will have  a blog post where I ask and answer questions. It is  a good way for readers to get to know more about me and also helps me to get feedback on a number of questions.  Are you a patriotic person who knows a lot about your country's history and geography? I  am patriotic and have some Jamaican souvenirs.   Jamaica celebrated its 51st anniversary of Independence last Tuesday, August 6.  I live in St. Mary, a parish situated in the North Eastern section of the  island.  Our national symbols are as follows :- national fruit - ackee, national flower - lignum vitae, national bird -The Jamaican Streamer Tail Hummingbird and national tree - Blue Mahoe.

What's your favourite way to celebrate your birthday?  Birthdays are rather quiet for me since my twin sister's death. We used to go places, have a special lunch and of course at home there would be cake and ice-cream.  Has anyone every planned a surprise party for you?  I have never had a surprise birthday party. We would go somewhere and not have parties.  What is your favourite cake and ice-cream combination? Any cake with icing and Grapenut ice-cream. Share your favourite birthday memory?  My favourite birthday memory was when my twin and I celebrated our 21st birthday in the beautiful parish of Portland,Jamaica. We had a nice meal at the Trident Hotel and it was great to see the birds roaming around. Here are pictures of that special birthday.

      Every weekend I will have a blog post where I ask and answer questions.  It is a good way for readers to get  to know more about me and also helps me to get feedback on a number of questions.  At what time of the day do some of your best blogging and freelance writing ideas come to mind?  While they come at different times of the day many come at night time when I am about to fall asleep.  Unfortunately at times I am too tired to get up and write them down and sometimes forget a few by the time I wake up.

    As usual I am participating in Friendship Friday hosted by Create With Joy where the theme this week is Summer Fun. Do you prefer to be indoors or outdoors on  a hot summer day? I prefer to be indoors.  At times the heat is unbearable outside.  Pool side or park picnic - which invitation sounds more appealing?  Pool side!  I can't get in the pool  though as I can't swim! :) What summer activity do you dream of the most? Visiting certain areas of Jamaica and seeing nature beating the heat. Earlier this week I got a chance to be in the popular tourist resort of Ocho Rios. I enjoyed seeing all the beautiful flowers and environment. I also did some shopping.

I think it is in such a pretty shade of green.  Green is one of my favourite colours.

Do you find the time to read a lot of books and who is your favourite author?  I wish I had more time to do so.  Anyway I recently went into  a pharmacy and saw 2 books by my favourite author Danielle Steel. I hope I get a chance to read them real soon. In addition I have a number of books on my Kindle for PC!

Are you good at riddles?  I am hopeless at coming up with the right answers so when I got one right recently I wished that I could do cartwheels. The riddle was 'What has hands but can't clap?'  The answer was quite easy so no wonder I got it right - A clock!  Anyway I am learning new riddles thanks to Marie who has the blog Xmas Dolly.  On Fridays check out her post Riddle Me This.

How do you like to spend Independence Day in your country? First  of all Happy Independence Day to all Americans!  Independence Day is August 6th in my country, Jamaica.  It is a day filled with many events.  I especially like to watch the Grand Gala held in the capital city of Kingston. There are costumed groups, marching bands, float parades, folk groups, effigies of former leaders and cultural icons, choirs, dancers, performances by top singers and groups plus so much more. I also enjoy listening to a lot of reggae music, the national music of my homeland.

Summer is a time for ice cream. If you like ice cream, what is your favourite flavour?   Grapenut is definitely No.1 for me.

What are your plans for vacation this summer?  I do not have any special vacation plans but I will take a trip to one of Jamaica's tourist resorts, Ocho Rios, from time to time. I went there today but it was not a sporting trip. 2. How often do you take a vacation from your blog?  I have not taken a real vacation from my blog since I started back in March 2011. However Hurricane Sandy sent me on a vacation last year as I had no electricity for some weeks.

    Every weekend I will have a blog post where I ask and answer questions.  It is a good way for readers to get to know more about me and also helps me to get feedback on a number of questions.  Can you play an instrument?  If not, given the chance what instrument would you like to play?  My twin and I played the recorder in school.  Howerver  I do not remember a thing now. We did piano lessons at Prepartory School but not for long. Given the chance to play an instrument I would probably take piano lessons again and even try the guitar.

What are your favourite board games?  Snakes and Ladders, Luddo, Draughts, Race Through Space etc. My twin and I used to play these games a lot.  What are your favourite games systems/games (Wii, Xbox, Playstation etc.?  Strangely enough I have not played any of these games yet.  What other types of game-like activities do you do for fun? I used to play a game on my phone called Snake Xenzia. However I have not played it recently.

When I am not listening to a talk show I am taking in some good music on my favourite programmes.

Who are your favourite musical artistes?  That could be such a long list for me - Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, The Bee Gees, Whitney Houston, Lionel Richie, Olivia Newton John etc. Do you have a favourite song or album of all time?  Not really but I have bought several of Jamaican reggae legend Bob Marley's albums. Are you attending any concerts this summer?  I am not good in large crowds but if a concert or any musical show is on television I will be sure to watch it. What musical competitions do you watch on television? A Jamaican reality show, Digicel Rising Stars.  I can hardly wait for this season to start.  It is similar to American idol.

   Every weekend I will have a blog post where I ask and answer questions.  It is a good way for readers to get to know more about me and also helps me to get feedback on a number of questions.  Where shoes are concerned, what type of heels do you like?  There was a time when Janine and I used to wear very high heels.  These days I rarely wear shoes that have heels higher than 2 inches.  I also have some flat heeled ones which I usually wear at home.

Do you exercise regularly?  If so, what type of exercise is your favourite?  I can hardly believe how disciplined I have become when it comes on to exercising every day. My favourite exercise is Yoga. I like the fact that it involves meditation. I find Yoga exercises good for the mind and body.

What genre of television shows do you enjoy the most?  I am not much of a television person these days but my twin and I used to enjoy comedies and soap operas.  Which television shows are your current favourites?  Reality shows with my favourite being a Jamaican show Digicel Rising Stars, which is somewhat similar to American idol. Which season finale are you most anticipating? None at this time.  What is your favourite television show of all time?  It is hard to choose as I have had so many favourites - Three Is Company, The Jeffersons, Different Strokes, The Cosby Show, Bold & Beautiful, Generations etc. I could go on and on!

Actually we last wore pants in our early teens. We just never liked wearing pants. Our mother loves pants and wears then almost all the time.  These days I only wear dresses, skirts and blouses.

What is your favourite movie of all time?  What upcoming Movie are you most looking forward to seeing? Do you have a favourite Book to Movie adaptation? Have you ever watched a movie that you wanted to love but hated or anticipated hating but fell in love with?  I have not watched a movie in a long time.  These days if I decide to watch a movie it would definitely be one that makes me laugh a lot.  Anyway I am a big Danielle Steel fan so I would like to see one of her books as a movie.

Do you have pets?  I have always had pets and over the years they have been dogs. At this time we have 6 dogs! Yes, 6 dogs!

Do you collect anything?  If not, what would you collect given the opportunity?  During our high school days my twin sister and I collected postcards and stamps.  Over 20 years ago we started collecting bird figurines which grew into a huge collection.  I do not see myself starting another collection but if I did it would be clocks. I love clocks!
    As usual I am participating in Friendship Friday hosted by Create With Joy where this week the theme is Catharsis. Nature has a way of lifting my spirit so today I share my poem titled Finding Peace Amidst Nature which was one of the early posts when I started this Blog.

Question Time

     Every weekend I will have a blog post where I ask and answer questions.  It is a good way for readers to get to know more about me and also help me to get feedback on a number of questions. Do you have a hobby that you started as a child?  In our early high school years Janine and I started corresponding with pen-pals.  Today I still have several pen-pals but I mainly exchange emails now. I also keep in touch with some of Janine's former pals.
     As usual I am participating in Friendship Friday hosted by Create With Joy where this week the theme is Gardens. Do you have a black or green thumb when it comes to growing things? Do you currently have-or plan to start- a garden?  Are there any public gardens in your area that you would like to visit?  I would say that I have a green thumb. We have 3 gardens at our home.  There are no public gardens in my area.  I love flowers and would like to visit some public gardens in my country like Castleton Gardens and Hope Gardens. I visited Hope Gardens many years ago.
