Bird Figurine Series - # 40

I think the eagle is an amazing bird. Just look at its wingspan! Janine and I were lucky to get this one for our collection. Believe in your dreams and soar like an eagle.

Decorating With Birds - Creative Monday Blog Hop

For many years my twin and I decorated our home with bird calendars, pictures, figurines, wall hangings etc. I have continued to do so. This week I share some of the ways that we have decorated our home with birds. Every year we have a bird calendar. I love the beautiful Golden Whistler that is featured for May 2013 on my Birds of Australia calendar. David Messent Photography did an excellent job sharing several birds.

Our bookshelf is decorated with birds. This is a special bird picture for me as Janine and I bought it many years ago when we were on a shopping trip in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

There are also bird wall hangings. Here are 3 of our favourites that came all the way from Austria.

Question Time

Every weekend I will have a blog post where I ask and answer questions. It is a good way for readers to get to know more about me and also helps me to get feedback on a number of questions. Where shoes are concerned, what type of heels do you like? There was a time when Janine and I used to wear very high heels. These days I rarely wear shoes that have heels higher than 2 inches. I also have some flat heeled ones which I usually wear at home.
As usual I am participating in Friendship Friday hosted by Create With Joy where this week the theme is Summertime. What summer activities are you looking forward to this season? Travelling to Jamaica's popular tourist resort in Ocho Rios to do some shopping. I also look forward to enjoying nature and good weather, hopefully without a storm or hurricane this year.

Bird Figurine Series - # 39

Janine and I were so thrilled when we got these figurines as gifts from our mother. We just loved the colours. I have been doing some research in order to find out what species these birds are. Based on pictures and information in one of my bird books I am wondering if they are figurines of Hoopoes.

Question Time

Do you have a sweet tooth? Yes, but the strangest thing is that if sweet things are not around me for a very long time I can do without them. However if they are in my home I struggle to keep away from them. Nevertheless there are times when I eat so much and no more.

Bird Figurine Series - # 38

In that Janine and I have never travelled abroad we often jokingly called ourselves 'kiwi birds.' The kiwi is the national bird of New Zealand and cannot fly. Many years ago Janine got this wooden kiwi from one of her pen-pals. If I recall correctly it was carved by her pen-pal's father.
