Christmas Draws Near - Creative Monday Blog Hop

     
      Can you believe that we are actually in the month of December?!  The days are moving so quickly. Before we know it Christmas will be here. My twin and I enjoyed decorating our home at Christmas and also taking pictures beside the decorations.  I decided that I would  make a Christmas collage of some of these pictures and use it for my header during this month. 
      Christmas decorations certainly help to lift one's spirit and I am glad that I have been able to decorate our home after the loss of my twin and again after my brother Sutcliffe died during the Christmas season of 2011. There was a time when I felt that decorating was a thing of the past for me.  
      I look forward to decorating a special memory table for my departed loved ones again this year.  I am usually a bit late with the decorating but for sure it will be done. How is your decorating coming along?

A Time For Gratitude

    Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who celebrates this holiday.  I think it is always good to give thanks. It is not a holiday in my homeland, Jamaica, but I take time out to give thanks for my relatives and friends, the wonderful persons I have met online, the strides I have made in my writing and blogging this year, the strength and courage I have had in facing health challenges and the departed loved ones who have left me with with special memories.  In that mode I share one of my favourite quotations- "Gratitude is the best attitude."

Favourite Animal Figurines - Creative Monday Blog Hop

   My twin and I loved buying figurines and found it difficult to pass many when we were out Christmas shopping. Of course it is no secret that we have a huge bird figurine collection. With the holiday season fast approaching I need to muster the energy to take all the birds out of my display unit and rearrange them. If I do get to do that I will be sure to post it here.  In the meantime I will share some  favourite animal figurines that we have used to decorate our home over the years.

Blogger Networking

    

   I have read about bloggers attending blogger conferences and sharing the wonderful time they have had meeting other bloggers, learning more about blogging etc. I am yet to have such an experience.  In the meantime I have been learning a lot about freelance writing and blogging by attending webinars. This is quite new to me. I am glad that I now have an internet service that can give me such an opportunity. I like the idea that one can join in and share views and ask the hosts questions. Some of the more recent webinars that I have joined were those given by Jon Morrow, Sophie Lizard, Laura Leigh Clarke, Carol Tice and Sharon Baker. I found them to be informative and inspirational.

  Have you ever attended a conference for bloggers or a webinar?  If so, what was the experience like?

Let The Colours Glow! - Creative Monday Blog Hop

Decorative Candle Holder

        I have so many candle holders in my home but I find it difficult to use some of them. This is the latest one and it has a beautiful pink candle inside. I just love the colours and the fact that it is shaped like a vase.  I may light it some day but for now I will just use it to decorate a table in our living-room and as my headline states 'Let The Colours Glow!" The crochet doily brings back memories of the times when my twin and I would sit in our living-room and crochet a variety of items for several hours. Janine and I made this one.  We loved crocheting in gold.

Please Bloom Again!

    I was determined to get new flowers in my garden this year and was happy that I succeeded with some of them. I especially liked this beautiful bloom which stayed around for several days despite the drought that we experienced.  Now I wait with baited breath to see it bloom again.  As I look at this picture my imagination is running wild. It reminds me of fireworks. I wish I knew the name of this flower. I continue to do my research.

How Cool Is That?! - Creative Monday Blog Hop

      I have always admired the awesome creations from my namesake Judy who has a blog titled Judy's Handmade Creations  so I was thrilled to be the lucky winner of her angel cards and bracelets giveaway. When they arrived in time for my birthday, November 4, I had to exclaim "How cool is that?!"
       Whenever I see the figure of an angel it has a comforting effect on me and what better day to use these  items to decorate a small table but on my birthday. The decorations included a pretty cloth,  picture of my twin and me, the angel cards and bracelets that I won, a special necklace with an angel pendant and a small red candle in a flower candle holder. I lit the candle for a short while. Below are pictures of the items I won and the decorated table.
